Zelda Eternity Protests SOPA and PIPA!

Posted on January 17, 2012 by DodongoBomber

Currently, the House and the Senate are trying to pass two bills that are described as “anti-piracy” bills; the House with SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), and the Senate with PROTECT IP. The purpose of writing these bills is to combat online piracy, however the vague nature of the bills gives too much power to corporations who can (and likely will) shut down legitimate sites under claims of “copyright protection”. Almost anything can be copyright infringement under these bills, including Let’s Play series, and fan sites such as Zelda Eternity. If these bills pass, anything with a copyright that is unofficial can be considered copyright infringement and be removed.

In order to protest this, from 12 AM EST January 18th, 2012 to 12 AM EST January 19th, 2012, Zelda Eternity will be blacked out. Other websites such as Reddit and Wikipedia will be participating, so be sure to spread the word anywhere you can, whether it be Facebook, Twitter, or any site you use! And have no worries about the forums, as they will still be up for discussion and communication during the blackout. Thanks for your time, and be sure to spread the word!
